exocad combines digital technologies on an open software platform

The Digital Future Belongs to Open Systems
"Your freedom is our passion“– clearly sums up exocad, and the worldwide renowned dental software company’s philosophy. exocad delivers a unique open platform solution that makes it easy to integrate third-party products and services, providing a future-proof platform. The perfectly integrated and easy-to-use software solutions are characterized by maximum flexibility, robustness and design freedom.

"What makes our software platform unique is its seamless and flexible integration with a wide variety of 3D scanners, milling machines and printers from leading manufacturers," said Tillmann Steinbrecher, CEO. "This approach makes our software products future-proof by ensuring access to the latest and most innovative devices from different providers in the open market," he added. Maik Gerth, CTO, highlighted the advantage: "If you want to make changes to your workflows, equipment, or services, you can customize the connectivity of our software. The basis for this is the open architecture of the exocad software platform."

The company was founded in 2010 as a spin-off of the renowned Fraunhofer Institute. Today, exocad is a global company that distributes its software solutions for digital technology users in laboratories and clinical practices via strong partner companies. Leading brands such as, for example, Amann Girrbach, Bego, Nobel Biocare, Schütz Dental, Zfx or Zirkonzahn offer perfectly integrated CAD/CAM systems based on the exocad DentalCAD platform. In addition, with more than 32,000 installations in over 120 countries, exocad has become the world's leading dental CAD software. In addition to the headquarters in Darmstadt, there are other locations in the US, UK, Hong Kong and Luxembourg.

With DentalCAD, which currently has over 15 add-on modules, exocad has developed today's leading dental CAD software for use in dental and practice laboratories. Other software solutions include exoplan for implant planning and ChairsideCAD for same-day restorations in the clinical environment. Products such as exocam for production with milling machines complete the portfolio in a practical way.

The exocad portfolio is constantly evolving. For example, PartialCAD was introduced last year for the design of high-quality partial dentures. The software is available as an add-on module for DentalCAD or as a standalone version. In addition, the add-on module Guide Creator was released in 2018 for the implant planning software exoplan. The software enables the individual design of surgical guides, which can then be produced in the laboratory on site as required, in the field or in an external manufacturing center. At IDS 2019, exocad will introduce Smile Creator, another new tool for the predictable planning of high-quality prosthetics. With Smile Creator, highly esthetic restorations can be planned easily, quickly and predictably by combining patient photos and 3D situations.

All software applications have been developed on the same platform and therefore follow the same operating concept. exocad has created a simple, user-friendly and, above all, future-proof solution that fully meets the needs of customers in a rapidly developing market.
