American Eagle® Sharpening calculator | Exhibitor on the IDS - International Dental Show 2023

American Eagle® Sharpening calculator

Using the new American Eagle sharpening cost calculator, every clinic can calculate their exact expenditure costs for sharpening their instruments. On the American Eagle website, you can enter the hourly rate of the user and the time required per week, and the online tool will determine the annual costs you would incur.

In a second step, you will then be able to discover the financial benefits of switching to American Eagle XP instruments that require no sharpening. These scalers and curettes retain their shape and functionality throughout their lifetime, always ready with their original sharp cutting edges. Their razor-sharp blades reduce physical effort for the clinician, ensuring this saves them work time and is more ergonomic. Thanks to XP Technology®, sharpening stones are now consigned to history and your time can now be used more productively.

The effort required to correctly resharpen instruments is often underestimated, but it takes considerable time, experience, patience and the proper technique. Instruments must be fixed and aligned, and an alignment gage is needed to maintain the correct sharpening angle. The edge must be continuously checked with a magnifying glass to eliminate any facets, and ensure a perfect working edge.

Moreover, the resharpening reduces the service life of the instruments, because along with their substance they also lose their ideal shape until they are no longer comparable with the original ones. The original angle is rarely maintained with sharpening, and the functionality of the instruments is often reduced or they even become entirely useless.
