The PhotoMed SDL - Smartphone Dental Light is the perfect dental accessory for your smartphone. The SDL features two High CRI 95+ LED panels that have 8 levels
of brightness. The lowest brightness setting is ideal for dental photography and the built-in lithium-ion batteries last 12+ hours of continuous use at this setting. Higher power levels are perfect for video where you are further from the subject. A power level scale lets you know the status of the battery level. The panels include removable diffusers.
The LED panels have swivel hinges to allow you to position them for different types of illumination. The universal mount allows most phones (55mm to 85mm) to be securely attached. The grip includes a bluetooth trigger to function as a pistol grip for one handed photography. This helps if you are holding a mirror or retractor in the other hand.
The PhotoMed R2 Dual Point Flash Bracket allows you to position the flash heads on either side of the lens for intraoral views or separate them by as much as 22 inches for anterior esthetic views and lab communication.
The R2 Bracket is available for Canon, Nikon and Sony cameras/flashes.
The PhotoMed Anterior "Soft" Contrasters are designed to allow upper anterior photos to be taken with a completely black background. This obscures the inside of the mouth and makes the image more presentable for patients, lectures and publications. The Anterior Contraster can also help show incisal translucency.
The PhotoMed Occlusal "Soft" Contrastor is designed to simplify taking occlusal mirror views - the curved end lifts the lip away to keep it away from the teeth and prevent it from folding over the incisal edge. It also prevents lips, nostrils and mustaches from appearing in the photo.
The PhotoMed Buccal/Lingual "Soft" Contraster is designed to block the inside of the cheeks as well as block the tongue.
The "Soft" Contraster is made of malleable stainless steel covered by black silicone. This makes it more comfortable for the patient and it can be bent for easier positioning.
polar_eyes is a cross-polarization filter that makes it easy to eliminate unwanted reflections on the teeth that are caused by the flash. These specular highlights can obscure details in the teeth and cause problems when communicating with the lab.
The polar_eyes filter also makes it easier to monitor and document deminineralization and decalcification white spot lesions (WSLs). Below is an example of reflections from the flash masking a WSL on the lateral incisor.
