Beading Wax
Beading Wax is a soft wax ideal for dentists to use to bead around the edge of a functional impression prior to casting.
Properties & Advantages:
· It is sticky enough to easily adapt at the periphery or edge of the alginate impression/final impression by hand pressure.
· It creates the base of the cast and preserves the outer portion of the cast.
Boxing Wax
Used for boxing impressions prior to pouring the model. A tacky wax that results in perfect adhesion without the application of heat.
Properties & Advantages:
· It is soft and tacky for boxing in impressions.
· Adheres easily to most of the surfaces.
Inlay Sticks
Waxes that soften at a temperature that is not hazardous to the dental pulp tissue hence can be used to prepare patterns of indirect restorations in the patient’s mouth by direct-wax technique.
Indications:
- Used for the construction of wax patterns using the direct wax technique, for fabrication of inlay & onlay restorations, fabrication of onlays and full coverage crowns by indirect wax technique on the die models.
Sticky Wax Sticks
Wax to fix removable prosthesis. Its high adherent properties make this wax an excellent material to fix resin teeth to the anterior walls and to fix these walls to the model.
Properties & Advantages:
· It is blending of various waxes and resins and it is yellow in color.
· It holds the components prior to fixation and gives a clean burnout.
Spacer Wax
Wax used to hold space for impression material, baseplate wax, or tissue.
Properties & Advantages:
· It increases the thickness of wax rims while making dentures using base plates.
· Use of spacer wax prevents direct contact of acrylic trays with soft tissues.
